NO CAP SQUAD: FUTURE CREATORS

When you tell someone about something that is true, what do you add at the end of the phrase?

A. “Nah fr though”

B. “No cap”

C. “I’m telling the truth”

D. “Bro, I’m serious”

If your answer is anything other than “B’ then you might be from a different city than the ones that use the phrase “ no cap". “No cap,” is a slang term that can mean no lie or being forreal about something that people might find hard to believe.

Now, this is not hard to believe, a group of young Black men took the slang term and turned it into a creative vision. Their brand is known as NO CAP SQUAD, a new upcoming Black clothing business by four developers.

David Sanders, Khalil Porter, Kendall Runnels, and Nick Davis met through their PWI (predominantly white institution) where marginalized groups often have to stick together. They brainstormed and decided to name their business NO CAP SQUAD.

They used the phrase “no cap” because their mission statement is “We use it because we are straightforward and genuine individuals and we want others to be the same.”

They created this brand because they felt that often in society Black men are seen as inferior. Steering away from that negative portrayal, they created a vision that gives Black men strength. Allow Black men the opportunity to start something positive and create their own narratives.

BLACK MEN are CREATORS. LEADERS. DEVELOPERS. KINGS. IS THE NARRATIVE THEY ARE CREATING.
